- the patterns are digital PDF files available for download. As soon as your payment went through, you'll get an automated e-mail with download links for all purchased items. Download the files and print them on a home printer. Assemble the paper sheets to get the full pattern ad start making the garment.
- YOU WILL NOT GET ANY PHYSICAL ITEM VIA POSTAL SERVICE!
- Download links are usually send within 1 hour after purchase. Please also check your spam folder, and verify that your e-mail was spelled correctly. If you did not get any e-mail, or in case of technical issues, contact me at support@missviscid-designs.com. Please allow me 12-24 hours to reply because there may be a huge time shift due to different world time zones.
What do I need to download, print and assemble the patterns?
- Prefer a tablet or computer with stable internet (not a mobile phone) to download the files. Please be aware that downloading large files may take time.
- Adobe Acrobat PDF-Reader (recommended) to open PDF files. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/ Other PDF-readers work too but may require adjustments in the print settings. Please make a test print and check the reference square on the pattern.
- A home printer for US Letter or DIN A4 sized paper. Greyscale works fine for the pattern, but for the sewing guide color print would be better. Please make sure you have enough paper sheets and ink/toner.
- For large items with many DIN A4 or US Letter sheets to assemble, prepare good music or a nice audio book.
- Patterns that come with separate DIN A0 files can be printed on large-scale plotters, like in print shops. Or use online printing companies (i.e poster or leaflet print services): Upload the DIN A0 files to their website and purchase ready-to-use printouts. These paper prints will be send to you by traditional postal services. If you want to skip the paper sheet assembly mess, this is a great way to go!
- Scissors for paper and glue stick or crystal tape to assemble the pattern sheets.
What sewing skills do I need?
- I kept the workmanship styles as plain and simple as possible so you can get wearable results fast.
- patterns tagged with difficulty level "easy" are suitable for sewing beginners. They require basic workmanship techniques only and tolerate inaccuracies i.e in cutting, fitting and straight stitching. For patterns tagged as "easy" you should know how to stitch a straight stitch and zigzag stitch, change stitch width and stitch length, and how to lockstitch seam ends
because the sewing guides do not explain how to operate a sewing machine. In addition, it would be good if you had sharp scissors for fabric and a (steam) iron because both make your sewing life much easier. If you don't have an ironing board, you can place a large cotton towel on a wooden desk instead.
- For patterns tagged as "intermediate" it would be good if you already had some routine in sewing: cut precisely from fabric, fold and iron a neat seam, and to stitch evenly straight seams. Patterns with "intermediate" level require precision and some practice. Make sure you have proper tools ready,
especially sharp scissors for fabric.
For your first or second sewing project, better choose difficulty level "easy" - or accept a challenge.
As an ambitious beginner, arrange enough time for the making process. Add extra time for corrections because you will most likely need to redo some seams. Also, stay hydrated and take a break at difficult points so your brain can digest all the new input.
- For long curved seams (i.e. cape hems) I recommend using an overlocker. If you don't have an overlocker, use a regular zigzag stitch at short stitch length (0,5-1,5) to hem the cape's edges and prevent the fabric from fraying.
I bought the wrong pattern! Can I return them and get a refund?
- download items can not be physically returned. Therefore, they can't be exchanged, returned or refunded.
- If the files are damaged or corrupted, I will of course send you the corrected file version as a replacement. In this case, please contact me at support@missviscid-designs.com
Can you send me printouts on paper?
- No, I do not offer printouts via snail mail. However, many of my patterns include separate DIN A0 large-scale files for print shops. You can send these DIN A0 PDF-files to your favorite online print company (i.e online poster or leaflet print services) and buy large-scale printouts that will be shipped to you via snail mail.
Can I get patterns made to my measurements or based on my own ideas?
- I do not offer custom patterns of any kind. However, if you want to breathe a wish, I'm happy to listen!
I can't sew but I love your work. Can you sew a garment for me?
-
I'm honored by your request but
I do not take commissions. I also do not sell clothing, tools or materials.
I can't sew. Can I take your patterns to my fav tailor or seamstress to get a gown made?
- Yes! You can take my pattern to a tailor or seamstress of your choice and get your gown made by them. However, please make clear that my patterns must not be used for other clients, nor for any other product or service.
I'm a seamstress/tailor. Can I use your patterns for my clients or my own products?
- No. My patterns are for personal, non-commercial use only. All kinds of commercial use are forbidden. Thank you for your understanding.
I'm an event organizer. Can I equip my walking-acts, actors and performers with garments based on your patterns?
- If you are a hobbyist community running a small LARP, that's absolutely no problem. You can make as many garments as you need with one pattern license. If you're crediting me with a link back to my shop, I'd be very happy!
- If you're a commercial organizer or a large event, we can negotiate idividual terms and conditions (rights of use, third-party merchandise licensing etc.). Please contact me at support@missviscid-designs.com and introduce your project.
